Masdevallia Anai
The Masdevallia orchid is native to South America.
The plant grows from a short rhizome, which creates small pseudobulbs. Some are hemicryptophyt: pseudobulb at or just below the surface. Each pseudobulb has fleshy, smooth leaves that grow in clumps. The green leaves are ovate or lanceolate. They usually bloom during the summer. The flowers are triangular in shape and are about 6 cm wide. There is usually only one flower on each stem, but there may be several. The petals and lingual or shell-shaped lip are small and partially hidden deep within the flower. The sepals are often very brightly colored and large.
Approximate height: approx. 20 cm.
Pot diameter: 9 cm.
