Hoya macgillivrayi (huge fragrant flowers)
Hoya macgillivrayi (Apocynaceae family) is one of the most spectacular Hoya species in Australia, found only in the Iron Range - McIlwraith Range area of the Cape York Peninsula.
Hoya macgillivrayi produces huge, spectacular flowers, usually dark red, purple or pink, star-shaped, with a lifespan of up to 3 weeks. The flowers appear mainly in the warm season, grouped in formations of up to 10-15 per peduncle, and each flower has a size of up to 7 cm.
