Feriga de gradina - Polystichum polyblepharum
Polystichum polyblepharum is one of the most elegant garden ferns, valued for its dark green, glossy leaves, with an arching habit and a “clean” look throughout the season. In spring, the new leaves unfurl in decorative spirals, and the clump quickly becomes a focal point in shaded areas, near paths, stones, or under shrubs.
🌿 Botanical characteristics:
-
Family: Dryopteridaceae

☀️ Growing and care conditions:
-
Light: partial shade – bright shade; avoid strong midday sun

-
In pots: requires more careful watering in summer and winter protection (roots are more exposed)
📌 Frost tolerance: down to approximately -15 / -20°C, under good conditions and with protection; in pots, winter shelter is needed.
✨ Advantages and uses:
-
Glossy, premium foliage, perfect for shaded gardens and “woodland” corners
-
Excellent near stones, in borders, under shrubs, or at the base of hedges
-
Structural plant, decorative long-term, with low maintenance
📌 Note: Leaves may show small natural imperfections (slightly dried tips, fine marks), and depending on the season, some older leaves may yellow or partially dry out. These aspects are normal for a fern and do not affect the plant’s viability.
