Cymbidium Eastern Bunny is a miniature primary hybrid orchid, officially registered in 2001 by the renowned Japanese breeder Mukoyama Orchids Co., Ltd., a producer with over 50 years of history in creating compact Cymbidium hybrids adapted to indoor conditions and with high productivity. The exact parental formula is Cymbidium goeringii (a species native to Japan, China, and Korea, known for vigor and subtle fragrance) × Cymbidium Lovely Bunny (a previous hybrid by the same breeder, registered in 1991, resulting from Cymbidium Sleeping Beauty × Cymbidium Yamba), resulting in a highly compact plant, ideal for pots of 10-12 cm diameter, with a total height (including inflorescences) under 30-40 cm, forming dense and decorative clumps.

Vegetatively, it features narrow, rigid, and slightly curved green leaves, 15-25 cm long, with a robust texture that tolerates environmental variations well. As a miniature hybrid, it is remarkably prolific: it produces up to 4-7 erect or slightly curved flower spikes on a mature plant in a small pot, each bearing 3-10 waxy flowers, extremely durable (4-6 weeks on the plant). The flowers have a diameter of 3-4 cm and a dominant vibrant yellow-orange color, with intense yellow outer segments and a labellum marked with contrasting red-purple spots; a sweet and subtle fragrance, with light floral notes inherited from C. goeringii, is more evident in the morning.

This creation exemplifies Mukoyama's expertise in oriental "mini" hybrids, combined for compact aesthetics, fidelity in annual blooming, and increased resistance, without requiring special conditions. It is adaptable to apartment cultures: intermediate temperatures (15-25°C during the day, with night drops to 10-15°C in winter to induce spikes), strong indirect light (partial sun), regular watering with superficial soil drying between waterings, well-drained substrate based on fine bark, and moderate humidity. It tolerates environments with natural ventilation well, is resistant to common pests such as aphids or mites, and reliably reblooms year after year, making it accessible for both amateurs and collectors.
