Peperomia prostrata , also known as String of Turtles, is a decorative succulent plant prized for its small, round leaves with a tortoiseshell pattern. It is an easy-care houseplant, ideal for hanging pots or terrariums.

Origin: Tropical forests of South America, especially Brazil

Appearance: Creeping plant with thin and flexible stems, which can reach 30-50 cm in length

Leaves: Small, round, about 1 cm in diameter, with a dark green pattern and lighter veins, resembling a tortoise shell

Flowers: Small and discreet, creamy white, in the form of thin spikes

Care conditions

Light: Prefers moderate to bright indirect light. Can also adapt to partial shade, but growth will be slower. Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight.

Water: Water moderately, letting the top layer of soil dry out between waterings. It is sensitive to excess water, which can lead to root rot.

Humidity: Tolerates moderate humidity, but prefers a slightly humid environment. Occasional spraying may be beneficial.

Temperature: Ideal between 18-25°C . Does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C .

Soil: A well-drained mixture, such as succulent substrate or a mix of peat, perlite, and tree bark.

Fertilizer: Fertilize once a month during the growing season (spring-summer) with a diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
