Parthenocissus amazonica , also known as Amazon Jungle Vine , is a rare decorative vine, highly appreciated in collections of exotic indoor plants. Unlike other Parthenocissus species grown in the garden, this variety is especially intended for pot culture, where it attracts with its unique leaf pattern and lush appearance.

Botanical characteristics

  • Leaves: large, arrow-shaped, deep dark green, crossed by contrasting silver veins, which create a spectacular effect. The underside of the leaves has reddish hues, emphasizing the exotic character of the plant.

  • Growth: climbing plant with flexible shoots, which can be trained on decorative supports or allowed to cascade down from hanging pots.

  • Particularity: although it belongs to the same family as wild vines, this species is cultivated strictly as an indoor ornamental plant.

Growing conditions (indoors, Romania)

  • Light: prefers filtered light, without direct exposure to the scorching rays of the sun.

  • Optimum temperature: 18–28°C, avoiding dropping below 15°C.

  • Watering: moderate, keeping the soil slightly moist but well-drained; excess water should be avoided.

  • Humidity: appreciates a medium to high level of atmospheric humidity.

  • Substrate: rich, light and well-drained, with the addition of perlite or coconut fiber.

  • Rare collector's plant , suitable for lovers of exotic foliage and climbing plants.

  • It is suitable for growing on vertical supports (trellises, decorative structures) as well as for hanging pots.

  • It brings a lush, tropical jungle air to modern interiors or green apartment spaces.
