Hoya quinquenervia is an accepted botanical species, an epiphyte native to Luzon, Philippines. The epithet describes the palmate veins, usually five, visible from the base of the leaf blade. The foliage is thick, ovate, and green; young shoots may develop reddish tones in bright light. The flowers are star-shaped and creamy yellow, with an open corona and sometimes a pink center, and are fragrant. The species is sometimes confused with Hoya merrillii. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage. The foliage in this lot is ovate and glossy, with clearly visible palmate veins on the leaf blade. The base color is green; a red-purple flush appears in intense light and is not present on every leaf. The shoots are thin and extend as they grow. Some leaves may have defects.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped and grouped in umbels. The gallery shows a creamy-yellow corolla, smooth on the outside, and an open corona, often with a pink center. They are fragrant, with a sweet character of variable intensity. They last on the plant for a few days; prolonged flowering is not guaranteed. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted name is Hoya quinquenervia Warb., published in 1904. It differs from Hoya merrillii mainly in the flower: in quinquenervia, the corolla lobes are more horizontal, while in merrillii they are raised at the tips. The title is not changed.
