Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Queen' is the selection with marginal variegation. The center of the leaf remains green, while the edges are cream or white, and new shoots may emerge pink. It is not Krimson Princess, which has variegation in the center of the leaf. Its growth habit is climbing or trailing, with flexible vines. Under good growing conditions, it produces star-shaped, pink-and-white umbels with a darker corona and a sweet fragrance. It is an easy-care houseplant with vigorous growth.

Foliage and variegation. The variegation is marginal, not splash variegation or an inner pattern. The width of the cream band, the presence of pink on new shoots, and the proportion of nearly white leaves vary from one vine to another. Some leaves may be almost entirely cream. The degree of development and branching varies according to the season and batch, and the photos are for informational purposes only.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped and waxy, grouped in umbels. The corolla is white and pink, with a darker ring toward the center; the corona ranges from pink to dark pink. Identity. The accepted botanical name of the species is Hoya carnosa (L.f.) R.Br. The species is a climbing epiphyte or lithophyte, native from southern China to Laos and from southern Japan to Taiwan.
