Warczewiczella discolor (Cochleanthes discolor) mix - botanical species

Warczewiczella discolor (formerly Cochleanthes discolor) is a botanical species with fragrant flowers in shades of white and lavender. The intensity and distribution of the colors vary naturally between specimens; plants are selected at random.

Size and delivery. The height, including the pot, is approximately 30–40 cm, in a 9 cm pot. The specimens have flowers or buds when posted, but these may be lost before dispatch or during transport.

Care. Filtered light, away from harsh sunlight; an east-facing windowsill is a good choice. Keep the substrate slightly moist and airy, without allowing the roots to dry out completely or water to stagnate. Moderate temperatures and good ventilation are safer than persistent heat and dry air.

Substrate and fertilization. Repot when new roots appear, using a mix that retains a little moisture while remaining airy; you can use substrate for Masdevallia, Promenaea and Cochleanthes. During active growth, apply diluted orchid fertilizer and periodically flush the substrate with plain water.

What to watch for. Wrinkled leaves usually indicate dry roots or substrate that dries out too quickly. Soft spots are more likely to appear after excess moisture and poor ventilation.
