Full description and specifications

Piper Sylvaticum - endemic species from north-east India. It stands out for the special appearance of the heart-shaped leaves, covered with a brushed silver splash, with prominent green veins.
The plant is climbing and belongs to the Piperaceae family, being related to pepper.

Here are some general tips for caring for this plant:

Light : It prefers indirect light, being adapted to growing in shaded or semi-shaded areas of forests. Exposure to direct sunlight can cause leaf burns.

Temperature: This tropical plant thrives in environments with warm temperatures, between 18°C and 30°C. The minimum temperature it can tolerate is approximately 15°C.

Humidity: Piper sylvaticum requires an environment with high humidity, between 60% and 80%, to develop properly.

Watering: The soil must be kept slightly moist, but not excessively soaked. Excessive watering can lead to rotting of the roots, while lack of water can lead to drying of the leaves.

The soil: The plant prefers a soil rich in organic matter, well drained. It is important that the soil is aerated, to avoid stagnation of water at the roots.

Fertilization: To support growth, you can apply a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer once every 4-6 weeks, during the period of active growth (spring and summer). Avoid overdosing the fertilizer, as this can negatively affect the plant.

Pruning: Piper sylvaticum can be pruned to control growth and maintain a compact shape. Regular pruning also helps to remove dead or damaged leaves.

Pest control: The plant can be affected by leaf lice, mites or cosine, especially in conditions of low humidity or dry air. It is good to check the leaves and stems regularly and use a natural insecticide or insecticidal soap if necessary.

Transplantation: Transplantation is done when the roots fill the pot, usually every 1-2 years.
