Full description and specifications
Mammillaria candida is a species of cactus native to the arid regions of Mexico. It is also known as "Pincushion cactus" or "Snowball cactus" due to its unique appearance.
This cactus grows in globular or cylindrical shapes, with a diameter of up to 10 cm and a height of 20 cm. The plant can also produce offshoots, forming dense clumps of cacti.
The defining characteristic of this species is the covering of white, dense thorns, which give the plant a "dressed in snow" appearance. The thorns are soft and flexible, and their dense covering makes the plant appear white or silvery.
The flowers are small, pink or pale purple in color, with a lighter center, and appear at the top of the plant. Flowering takes place in spring.
Caring for Mammillaria candida requires bright, but filtered light to prevent sunburn. It prefers a well-drained soil and a moderate watering regime, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering is significantly reduced.
Height with pots included approx. 12 cm
