Hoya sp. Doi Tung (Hoya sp. 14)

Hoya sp. Doi Tung, also sold as Hoya sp. 14, is a collector label for material from the Doi Tung area in northern Thailand. This accession circulates in horticulture under the number AP1020. The foliage is glossy and dark green, with ovate-elliptical leaves, without splash or variegation. Under good growing conditions, it produces dense umbels with white, waxy flowers, sometimes with a pink tinge on the corona. The flowers are fragrant.

Foliage and growth. The leaves are thick, glossy, ovate to elliptical, and uniformly dark green. The veins are visible, but do not form a silvery pattern, and there are no areas of variegation. It has a vining habit: the stems can be trained on a support. It should not be confused with Hoya carnosa 'Wat Doi Tung', another commercial name.

Flowers and fragrance. The umbels are dense, with star-shaped, white or nearly white flowers. The corona is white or cream, sometimes with a pale pink tinge. Product photos show both completely white umbels and umbels with a slight pink coloration. The flowers are fragrant. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Botanical identity and origin. Doi Tung and sp. 14 are collector labels, not species epithets. The material is horticulturally linked to accession AP1020, with its origin declared as Thailand. Until a published identification is available, the plant should be sold as an accession, not as a described species.
