Full description and specifications

Ferocactus emoryi, also known as the "iron bar cactus", is a cactus species native to the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is a large cactus, with a cylindrical shape, which can reach heights of up to 2.5 meters and a diameter of up to 60 cm.

Prominent "ribs" are arranged regularly on the surface of the body. Along these ribs, there are areas (areoles) from which numerous strong thorns grow. The spines are usually gray-brown, and some of them can be so strong that they can be compared to an iron bar, hence the common name of the species.

Its flowers, usually red or orange, appear at the top of the plant and can reach up to 6 cm in diameter. The fruits are light green to yellow in color and are edible.

Ferocactus emoryi is a resistant plant, adapted to drought conditions. It prefers a well-drained soil and direct or semi-direct sun exposure. It is also tolerant to low temperatures, but must be protected from frost. It is a popular choice due to its impressive size and beautiful flowers.
