Bletilla ochracea - Garden orchid
Bletilla ochracea is a species of terrestrial orchid native to China, where it grows in forests, meadows and along rivers at altitudes between 600-2800 meters.
This orchid has lance-shaped green leaves, which grow up to 30 cm long, arranged in a fan pattern. It produces stems up to 60 cm high, with several flowers on each stem. The flowers are usually yellow-orange or yellow-brown, with purple-brown spots and stripes and a lighter lip. The flowers have a delicate fragrance and bloom at the beginning of summer (June-July) in the garden.
