Full description and specifications

Phalaenopsis violacea 'Blue' × 'Pink'.

Phalaenopsis violacea - botanical species found on the Malayan peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra, at altitudes from sea level to 150 meters, this small to medium epiphyte grows in high temperature conditions, having a very short stem and 3-4 elliptical, obtuse leaves , wavy, which gradually narrows at the base. It differs from Phalaenopsis bellina by the smaller leaves and flowers, being also easier to hybridize, although the results are not as good as with Phal. belly

Phalaenopsis violaceae presents extremely fragrant flowers that appear in the spring, developing one by one on a pendulous, robust, articulated inflorescence, 10-15 cm long, with 2-7 flowers. The flowers have a spicy cinnamon scent, and they open 2-3 at a time.

This botanical species is used due to its fragrance in Phalaenopsis hybridization. It needs shaded spaces and high humidity, as well as regular irrigation, without allowing the substrate to dry completely.

Fragrant flowers: YES

Flower size: approx. 4 cm
