Lithops (“living stones”) are fascinating succulents, known for their camouflage: they look like small colored stones with natural patterns in shades of beige, brown, pink, or brick red. They are collector’s plants, perfect for small pots and minimalist arrangements, and in season, mature specimens can produce delicate flowers, usually white or yellow, emerging from the central “crack.”

🌿 Botanical characteristics:

• Family: Aizoaceae
• Botanical name: Lithops (genus; may be different species/cultivars)
• Common name (RO): living stones
• Appearance: two lobes (double body) with a “window” and pattern; each plant is unique
• Growth rate: slow, remains compact for a long time
• Flowers: appear at maturity, in season, from the center of the plant

• Light: lots of light; ideal soft sun and very bright window
• Watering: very rare
  
• Water only after the substrate is completely dry
• During leaf change (when the old body dries and feeds the new leaves), watering is greatly reduced or stopped, depending on the stage
• Temperature: 18–30°C; protect from cold and dampness
• Substrate: predominantly mineral, excellent drainage; pot with drainage holes required
• Warning: overwatering is the main cause of problems in lithops
