Hoya sp. Sabah (EPC-691)
Hoya sp. Sabah (EPC-691) is a collector’s accession sold under a catalog number, not under an accepted species name. The foliage is large, glossy, ovate and elongated, with dark, contrasting venation visible across the entire leaf blade. It has a vining growth habit. EPC-691 indicates a collection number. The material is horticulturally associated with Sabah, Malaysia, but it should not be treated as a described endemic species. When it blooms, it produces compact, star-shaped umbels in a cream color with a peachy tint.
Foliage and growth. The leaves are large, ovate and elongated, with a distinct gloss and a network of dark, contrasting veins against a green background. The leaf blade is firm. Some specimens may also have leaves with defects. It has a vining growth habit and is suitable for training on a support. EPC-691 should not be confused with other labels of the “Hoya sp. Sabah” type or with similar collection numbers, such as EPC-961.
Flowers. In this batch, the plant produces a compact umbel with small, star-shaped flowers. The corolla is cream-colored, with a peachy or brownish tint on some flowers; the corona is pale, creamy yellow. We do not have an independent, verified description of the fragrance, so we do not promise one here. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.
Horticultural identity. The abbreviation “sp.” indicates that the plant belongs to the genus Hoya, but has not been identified to species level. EPC-691 is a collection number. The commercial provenance from Sabah, Malaysia, is retained as an origin label, not as the status of a published endemic. Until a botanical identification is available, EPC-691 remains the sales reference.
Note: The plant may also have leaves with defects.
Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium - SG Mix.
