Hoya 'Rosita' (H. Wayetii x H. Tsangi) - D9 - 3+ plants/pot

Hoya 'Rosita' is a collector's horticultural hybrid, appreciated for its elongated foliage with dark edges and for the red, burgundy, or coppery shades that the leaves can develop in bright but filtered light. Hoya wayetii and Hoya tsangii are distinct accepted species. The name Hoya sp. aff. burtoniae indicates a plant close to Hoya burtoniae, not a botanical synonym. Since no primary record from the hybridizer has been identified, the parentage is presented cautiously as horticultural information, not as a definitive botanical fact.

Characteristics. The leaves are fleshy, elongated, and slightly pointed, narrower than those of Hoya sp. aff. burtoniae and similar in length to Hoya wayetii. The surface may have fine pubescence, while the edges often develop dark tones. In bright light, protected from scorching sun, the foliage can change from green to red, burgundy, dark violet, or coppery orange. Color intensity naturally varies depending on light, season, and growing conditions.

The vines have a good growth rate, branch readily, and show the plant to advantage in a hanging pot. They can also be trained onto a support as they elongate.

Flowers and fragrance. The waxy flowers are grouped in umbels and are dark red, with yellow crown tips. They are fragrant, with a sweet scent. Flower size and timing depend on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.
