Flowers and fragrance. The flowers appear in umbels and, on the plant material, vary in color from reddish to mauve, sometimes with darker veining. The duration of a bloom is horticulturally described as approximately one week. The flowers are fragrant. Blooming depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Botanical identity and origin. Hoya filiformis Rech. is an accepted botanical name, published in 1908, native to Samoa. In horticulture, the same stock, including IML 0545, circulates under both labels. The commercial title retains both names.
