Hoya carnosa 'Snowball'
Hoya carnosa 'Snowball' - cultivar of Hoya carnosa particularly appreciated for the shape and appearance of the fleshy, dark green leaves, painted with silver splashes. The flowers are specific to the carnosa specimens - the large umbels, in shades of white and pink, strongly scented.
It is said that this cultivar has been in circulation since 1960, but there is not enough data to confirm that it is the same cultivar. Some collectors claim that this cultivar is the same as Hoya motoskey, which would in turn be the true Hoya carnosa, with larger flowers and more special characteristics.
Hoya carnosa 'Snowball' shows a great variability of the leaves - on a single plant there are leaves of different shapes, some particularly large, but the young leaves are almost always the same shape. A difference in leaf size was also observed between plants of the same age, although they are clones obtained from the same mother plant, but it is expected that the sizes will be approximately similar as the plants mature.
Hoya Carnosa is the most recognized species in the genus and is also one of the most popular.
