Anthurium Balaoanum
Full description and specifications
Anthurium Balaoanum is a fascinating species of anthurium, appreciated for its long, thin and elegant leaves. It is a decorative tropical plant, ideal for lovers of exotic plants and rare collections.
Care:
-
Light:
- Prefers strong indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves.
- It is also suitable for spaces with filtered light, such as those near a window facing east or west.
-
Temperature:
- It grows well at temperatures between 18-28°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C, as it may suffer damage from the cold.
- Ensure a constant temperature, without sudden variations.
-
Moisture:
- It needs a high humidity, preferably over 60%. Use a humidifier or periodically spray the leaves with non-calcareous water.
- Positioning next to other tropical plants can create a favorable microclimate.
-
Watering:
- Water regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist, but not soaked with water. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
- Use rainwater or demineralized water to avoid the accumulation of salts in the soil.
-
Soil:
- It prefers a well-drained, aerated soil, rich in organic matter. A mixture for orchids or for epiphytic plants, combined with peat and perlite, is ideal.
- Ensure good drainage to avoid root rot.
-
Fertilization:
- Apply a liquid fertilizer for tropical plants or epiphytes once a month during the period of active growth (spring and summer).
- Reduce fertilization in the autumn and winter months.
-
Leaf care:
- Periodically wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.
- Avoid using leaf polish solutions, which can block pores.
