Chrysalidocarpus lutescens (Areca palm) is a very elegant palm that adapts very well to apartment or home environments, being one of the most appreciated and frequently purchased indoor plants. Thanks to its leaves, it offers an exotic atmosphere to any well-lit room.
Its popularity as an office and apartment plant has grown (and is maintained today), partly due to experiments conducted by NASA and Dr. Wolverton in the 1980s.

If you live in a fairly dark house, avoid buying Chrysalidocarpus as it will not do well without light!
Watering
At any time of the year, it is important to spray the leaves regularly to recreate its natural environment conditions. This is especially true during winter, as heating tends to reduce indoor air humidity levels.
Spring and summer. During this period, Chrysalidocarpus grows the most. It should be watered regularly while allowing the substrate to dry out on the surface before watering again.
Watering should be regular but limited, so as not to suffocate the plant's roots. It can be said that watering every 5-7 days is often necessary - but you should assess each season to evaluate the drying time of the substrate.
More or less every two weeks, you can give it a liquid fertilizer diluted in watering water.
Autumn and winter. Start reducing watering as the water requirement begins to decrease. Water only when the soil is dry a few centimeters deep.
In general, it could be said that watering 2 or 3 times a month should be sufficient. But this depends on the location: if placed near a sunny window, its needs will certainly be greater.
During this season, stop adding fertilizer from October until March - April, as the plant is not in its growing season.
Tips for various situations:
1. Chrysalidocarpus has twisted leaves
Cause: it definitely lacks light or has been overwatered.
Solution: brighter location and reduce watering.
2. Leaves turn yellow
Cause: if it continues to produce new leaves, this action is part of its natural cycle - trees, even evergreen ones, lose their leaves to renew them.
Solution: you can let them dry and fall off, or cut them off when the visual appearance is important.
However, if no new shoots appear and the palm looks miserable, it is recommended to check the watering, water drainage, and possibly replace the substrate or fertilize with a liquid fertilizer every two weeks - depending on the situation.
