Paeonia Suffruticosa, commonly called shrub peony, is an unusual peony of Asian origin. There are Japanese and Chinese cultivars.

Unlike the classic peony, Paeonia Suffruticosa grows (slowly) as a woody shrub reaching a height of 2-3 m.

Placement: sunny or partly sunny location. Areas sheltered from strong winds or extreme temperatures are preferred.
Temperature: withstands down to -20 degrees Celsius
Flowering season: May - June
