Hoya myrmecopa "Big leaves" - an endemic species from Sulawesi, Indonesia, published in 2001. Relatively small, fragrant flowers in shades of pink and yellow/orange, showing variability depending on growing conditions. The leaves are small and glossy.
The flowers have a pleasant, medium-intensity fragrance and appear in groups of approx. 15 per umbel. Flowering is not season-dependent, but for successful flowering, it is recommended to grow the plant in a position that offers as strong filtered light as possible. It is recommended by collectors as a plant with frequent flowering.
The plant is compact, with controllable dimensions, and adapts very easily to any microclimate, with minimal care. Specimens grown in strong light have smaller, thicker, pigmented (colored) leaves, while those grown in lower light have larger, intensely green, thinner leaves.
The approximate translation for the name of this species (myrmecopa) would be "ant hole" - in situ, the initially collected specimen was grown in a hollow formed by ants, living in symbiosis with them. The substances produced by the ant nest provided nutrients to the plant. The association with ants could also indicate that this plant might prefer an acidic substrate - formic acid, a substance also known for its antibacterial effects, is produced in ant nests.

Fragrant flowers: YES
