Epidendrum porpax - miniature botanical species found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil, in humid mountain forests and cloud forests, at altitudes between 400 and 1800 meters. It is a very small epiphyte, with growth adapted to warm to cool conditions, which forms dense carpets. It presents simple stems, similar to a rod, laterally compressed and slightly lying down, which bears between 4 and 13 leaves arranged along the stem, in two rows.

In the natural environment, it blooms from late spring to winter, on a terminal inflorescence, sessile, with a single flower, which appears through a hemi-elliptical bract, ovate-lanceolate, rounded and slightly oblique at the tip. The flowers are fragrant, resupinate and fleshy.
