Cattleya violacea var. coerulea is a bifoliate orchid species native to the Amazon basin (Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana), from the genus Cattleya (family Orchidaceae).

Brief botanical characteristics:

  • Flowers: 8–13 cm in diameter (some clones up to 14–15 cm), blue-lavender (coerulea) in color, with a dark purple lip and yellow keels. 3–8 flowers per inflorescence, strongly fragrant, lasting 25–30 days.
  • Habitus: Narrow and elongated pseudobulbs (20–45 cm), each with 2 leathery leaves. Medium-compact plant, epiphytic or lithophytic.
  • Particularities: The coerulea variety is rare and highly valued for its intense blue color. Blooms more frequently in spring and autumn, with flat and symmetrical flowers.

A classic Amazonian species, considered one of the most beautiful Cattleyas with blue flowers.
