Calathea is also special for another reason: at night its leaves close and in the morning they open again! This is why Calathea is also called the "living plant". The plant owes this ability to a small "joint" between the leaves and the stem. Light moves the joints and, as a result, the Calathea's leaves open and close - sometimes accompanied by a rustling sound.
Location: shady space, with indirect light. It cannot stand drafts and temperatures that are too low in winter. In summer, they feel good in a cooler place; in excessive heat, the leaves become stained.
Water: water moderately, letting the soil dry partially
Humidity: it does better the higher the humidity.
