Tradescantia Rhoeo Discolor (Tradescantia Spathacea)
Tradescantia rhoeo discolor , also known as "Rhoeo" or "Moses in the Cradle" is a tropical perennial plant appreciated for its colorful leaves and decorative appearance. It is ideal for both indoors and outdoors in warm regions.
Care:
Light: Prefers strong indirect light, but can also tolerate partial shade. Exposure to direct sunlight for short periods intensifies the color of the leaves, but strong afternoon sun can burn the leaves.
Watering: Water the plant regularly during the growth period (spring and summer), letting the soil dry slightly between waterings.
Reduce watering in autumn and winter, when the plant goes dormant. Avoid excess water, which can cause root rot.
Soil: Prefers a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A mixture of peat, sand and garden soil is ideal. Make sure the pot has drainage holes.
Temperature: It develops well at temperatures between 18-26°C. It does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C, so it must be protected from the cold in temperate regions.
Humidity: Prefers an environment with moderate humidity. Periodically spray the leaves if the air is very dry.
Fertilization: Apply a liquid fertilizer for decorative plants once a month during the growing season. It does not require fertilization during the winter.
Pruning: Remove dry or damaged leaves to stimulate healthy growth and maintain the aesthetic appearance.
