Ferocactus latispinus, often known as the "broad-spined cactus," is a species of cactus native to Mexico. The plant has a globular or short cylindrical shape, reaching a height of up to 30 cm and a diameter of 40 cm.

A distinctive feature of this cactus is its spines. The central spine is flat, wide, and sturdy, dark red or brown in color, hence the name "latispinus" (broad spine). The other spines are thinner, curved, and lighter in color.

The flowers, usually pink-purple, appear at the top, and the fruits are yellow. The flowers can reach up to 3 cm in diameter, and the fruits are edible, having a taste similar to that of kiwi.

Ferocactus latispinus is a hardy plant that prefers well-drained soil and moderate sun exposure. It is drought-tolerant and can withstand low temperatures if properly protected. It is a popular choice due to its attractive shape and unique spines.
