Shrub hydrangea - Hydrangea paniculata 'Sundae Fraise'® ('Rensun')

Hydrangea paniculata 'Sundae Fraise'® ('Rensun'), also known as panicle hydrangea, is a hydrangea variety with particularly attractive blooms. Native to East Asia, this plant belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family.

This hydrangea variety develops as a shrub or small tree, reaching heights of up to 3–4 meters. The leaves are dark green and oval, with serrated edges that provide a pleasant contrast to its distinctive flowers.

As for the flowers, Hydrangea paniculata 'Sundae Fraise'® ('Rensun') is known for its conical inflorescences, which can reach up to 30 cm in length. The flowers appear from summer to late autumn, starting out cream-white, then turning pale pink, intensifying to a bright pink, and becoming a true "Pink Diamond". This color change creates an impressive visual display and enhances the plant’s ornamental value.

'Rensun' hydrangea is resistant to most diseases and pests. Like other hydrangeas, it prefers well-drained, organically rich soil and a position in partial sun or shade. This hydrangea variety is an excellent choice for mixed borders, flower gardens, and as a focal point in the garden.

Unlike other hydrangea varieties, Hydrangea paniculata Sundae Fraise® ('Rensun') does not necessarily require acidic soil to grow and bloom well. In fact, this plant is known for its ability to adapt to a wide range of soil conditions, including neutral or slightly alkaline soils. The flower color is not affected by soil pH.
