Hoya parasitica 'Pink'

Hoya parasitica 'Pink', also marketed under the classification Hoya verticillata 'Pink', is a vigorous, twining cultivar with thick, medium-green leaves, prominent veins, and subtle silver markings. The name “Pink” distinguishes this selection by its pink flowering. Its vigorous growth and the contrast between the understated foliage and intensely colored umbels make it suitable for collections focused on both foliage and fragrant flowers. A rewarding houseplant with simple care requirements.

Foliage and growth. The leaves are elongated to ovate-lanceolate, firm, and waxy, with well-defined venation; sparse silver speckles may appear on some leaves. The plant produces vines that twine around a support and can form multiple inflorescences along the same stem once mature.

Flowers and fragrance. The “Pink” selection produces reflexed, pale pink flowers with a pink corona and burgundy center, arranged in full umbels. Horticultural sources describe a pleasant, sweet-spicy fragrance. It should not be confused with “Heart Leaf Splash”: this selection is commercially defined primarily by its pink flowers, not by heart-shaped leaves with abundant splash.

Botanical identity and origin. The name Hoya parasitica remains widely used among collectors. verticillata, but also record floras that have accepted the name separately.
