Hoya noona

Hoya 'Noona' is a compact commercial hybrid with small, oval, dense foliage on slender vines. It is presented as a cross between Hoya davidcummingii and Hoya heuschkeliana, two accepted species from the Philippines. Under good growing conditions, it produces umbels of fragrant, cup-shaped yellow flowers, in shades ranging from pale yellow to deep yellow. It has a short vining habit, suitable for growing on a support or allowing to trail.

Foliage and growth. The foliage is small, oval or oblong, thick and glossy, and densely arranged on slender stems. The growth is that of a short vine, which can be guided onto a support or allowed to trail. Young plants appear compact; the vines grow longer as the plant matures.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are yellow and star-shaped, often described as cup-shaped, and appear in tight umbels. The color varies from pale yellow to deep yellow, depending on the plant and growing conditions. They are fragrant and uniformly yellow.

Botanical identity and origin. Hoya 'Noona' is not a species name. It is a cultivated hybrid. The commercial parentage listed in our catalog is Hoya davidcummingii × Hoya heuschkeliana. Both parents are accepted species native to the Philippines. Collection lists sometimes reverse the order of the parents.
