Clematis 'Hagley Hybrid' - clematis with XL flowers (Late Large-flowered Group)
Clematis 'Hagley Hybrid' - the spectacular shell-pink, star-shaped flowers feature a darker pink stripe when freshly opened, maturing to a pale pink-purple. The average flower size is approximately 13 cm. This variety also tolerates shadier locations.
Classification: Late Large-flowered Group
This type of clematis prefers good-quality soil with high nutrient levels that is moist but well drained. When planting, it is recommended to improve the soil with manure or compost whenever possible. When grown in drier soils that tend to dry out quickly, cover the base with a layer of finely shredded bark (or another type of mulch) to retain soil moisture.
Clematis generally prefer a growing location with good sun exposure.
It is not necessary to remove the faded flowers of these clematis; however, if they appear to have finished flowering earlier than expected, a light pruning can encourage new growth and a second flush of flowers later in the autumn.
During the cold season, the plants appear as leafless stems that look dry - this is perfectly normal, and the plants are fully viable.
Height including pot: approximately 50-60 cm
