Anthurium Hookeri, also known as Anthurium "Bird’s Nest", is a remarkable tropical plant, valued for its large, glossy leaves in shades of dark green, which grow in a rosette shape resembling a nest. The leaves can reach lengths of 30-60 cm and have a smooth texture, with a slight curve and wavy edges, giving the plant a lush and exotic appearance.
Care:
-
Light: Anthurium Hookeri prefers moderate to strong indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can burn the leaves. It also adapts well to lower light conditions but grows best in a bright spot.
-
Watering: It is important to keep the soil slightly moist but not wet. Water when the top layer of soil is dry, and remove excess water to prevent root rot. During the growing season, regular watering is needed, but in winter, watering can be less frequent.
-
Humidity: Being a tropical plant, Anthurium Hookeri enjoys higher humidity. It is recommended to place it in a more humid environment or to spray it regularly with water to keep the leaves hydrated.
-
Soil: The plant prefers a well-drained mix, ideal for epiphytic plants or orchids. A mixture of peat, perlite, and bark is a good choice to ensure proper drainage and root aeration.
-
Temperature: It thrives at indoor temperatures between 18-27°C. It is sensitive to cold and should not be exposed to temperatures below 15°C.
-
Fertilizing: During the growing season (spring and summer), monthly feeding with a balanced fertilizer for indoor plants is beneficial. In autumn and winter, fertilizing can be reduced or stopped.
-
Repotting: Anthurium Hookeri should be repotted every 2-3 years or when roots start to come out of the pot. This will provide the necessary space for it to continue growing vigorously.
