Chrysalidocarpus lutescens (Areca palm) is a very elegant palm that adapts very well to apartment or home environments, being one of the most appreciated and often purchased indoor plants. Thanks to its leaves, it offers an exotic atmosphere to any well-lit room.
Its popularity as an office and apartment plant has grown (and is maintained today), partly due to experiments conducted by NASA and Dr. Wolverton in the 1980s.

Watering
Anytime during the year, it is important to spray regularly on the leaves to recreate the conditions of its natural environment. This is especially true during winter, as heat tends to reduce indoor air humidity levels.
Spring and summer. During this period, Chrysalidocarpus grows the most. It will be watered regularly while allowing the substrate to dry on the surface before watering again.
Watering should be regular but limited, so as not to suffocate the plant's roots. It can be said that watering every 5-7 days is often necessary - but you should evaluate each season to assess the drying time of the substrate.
More or less every two weeks, you can give it a liquid fertilizer diluted in the watering water.
Autumn and winter. Start reducing watering as the water requirement begins to decrease. Water only when the soil is dry a few centimeters deep.
In general, it could be said that watering 2 or 3 times a month should be sufficient. But this depends on where it is placed: if it is placed near a sunny window, its needs will certainly be greater.
In this season, fertilizing will stop, starting from October until March - April, because the plant is not in the growing season.
Tips in various situations:
1. Chrysalidocarpus has twisted leaves
Cause: it definitely lacks light or has been overwatered.
Solution: brighter location and reduced watering.
2. The leaves turn yellow
Cause: if it continues to produce new leaves, this action is part of its natural cycle - trees, even evergreen ones, lose their leaves to renew them.
Solution: they can be left to dry and fall off, or they can be cut when the visual appearance is important.
However, if no new shoots appear and the palm looks miserable, it is recommended to check the watering, water drainage, and possibly replace the substrate or fertilize with a liquid fertilizer every two weeks - depending on the situation.
