Platycerium bifurcatum (Paprat 'Jelenji Rog')
€13,95
Platycerium Bifurcatum, commonly called Stag Horn Fern, is an epiphytic fern, with leaves resembling the antlers of a stag, hence the plant’s name.
It has two types of leaves: some sterile, flattened ones that attach to the substrate and help absorb water, and fertile ones that are divided and look like stag antlers. Here are some tips for caring for this unique plant:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
Watering: The fern needs a moist environment. Make sure the substrate dries slightly between waterings. Avoid spraying water directly on the fertile leaves to prevent mold growth.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity. You can maintain high humidity by misting with water or using a humidifier.
Substrate: Since it is an epiphytic plant, Platycerium bifurcatum grows best in a well-aerated substrate rich in organic matter. Orchid or fern mixes are often suitable.
Fertilizing: Use a diluted fertilizer rich in nitrogen every few weeks during the active growing period (spring and summer).
Temperature: Prefers moderate temperatures between 16-24 degrees Celsius. Avoid exposure to cold drafts or temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
