€9,95
Pinguicula is a genus of carnivorous plants also commonly known as butterworts or carnivorous fleshy plants, valued for their shiny leaves covered with sticky secretions that attract and digest insects. They belong to the family Lentibulariaceae and originate from temperate and tropical regions of Europe, North America, and Central America.
🌿 General characteristics:
• Plant type: perennial or annual, herbaceous, carnivorous
• Leaves: arranged in a rosette, flat or slightly wavy, covered with sticky glands that catch insects
• Flowers: delicate, solitary, in shades of violet, blue, pink, or white; resemble those of the violet
• Size: height 3–10 cm, rosette diameter 5–15 cm
• Feeding mechanism: leaves attract, catch, and digest small insects to compensate for the lack of nutrients in the soil
☀️ Growing conditions:
• Light: bright indirect light or partial shade
• Soil: poor, well-drained substrate – mix of acidic peat and sand/perlite (without fertilizers) – special for carnivores.
• Watering: by tray – kept constantly moist, using only distilled or rainwater
• Humidity: medium to high
• Temperature: most prefer 15–25°C, but tolerance varies depending on species (there are subtropical and mountain varieties)
✨ Advantages and uses:
• Ornamental plant with exotic and useful value – reduces the presence of mosquitoes and small flies
• Ideal for terrariums, damp borders, or decorative pots
• Requires low maintenance and is attractive to enthusiasts of unusual plants
Note: The displayed price is for a single pot – the specimen will be randomly selected from the varieties available in stock. Plants are sold without ID.
