Epipactis palustris is probably one of the most remarkable garden orchids, resembling a miniature Cymbidium orchid.

The reddish stem grows up to about 50 cm, with broad, oval leaves at the base, gradually narrowing leaves arranged spirally upwards along the stem. The loose flower spike consists of up to 20 fairly large flowers, with white petals tinged with yellow and brown-pink sepals. Flowering usually occurs from late June to mid-August.

It thrives best in alkaline or neutral, well-drained soils. It is recommended to place it in a partly shaded area. It withstands garden conditions down to temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius.
