Jericho Rose - Selaginella lepidophylla, St. Mary's Rose
94.00 kr
Selaginella Lepidophylla, also known as Rose of Jericho or Resurrection Plant, is a species of plant native to the deserts of North Africa. It is a plant that can survive extreme dehydration for months or even years.
Although the most commonly used name is Rose of Jericho, it is also known by other names: True Rose of Jericho, Resurrection Plant, Our Lady’s Rose, Saint Mary’s Flower, Mary’s Flower, Dinosaur Plant.
The amazing ability of this plant is that it can survive many years without water.
A Christian tradition says that when Mary, the mother of Jesus, was traveling from Judea to Egypt, she was fascinated by the plant’s behavior and blessed it.
It is said that a home possessing a "Rose of Jericho" will be blessed.
Rehydration: To rehydrate, the Rose of Jericho should be left in a shallow dish with lukewarm water (see the picture on the packaging). Opening can begin after 4 hours or more and may take several days. Rehydrating the plants takes time and can vary depending on the conditions in each home.
Without water, the plant dehydrates and enters dormancy. It can remain in this state for many years, and when it rains, it rehydrates and comes back to life. It is believed that this process hides resurrection abilities that can be used to achieve various "magical" goals.
Attention – when it comes back to life, the plant is not always completely green. This appearance is considered normal.
Note: The displayed price is for 1 dehydrated plant. The size of the plant varies depending on the batch received.
