Thrixspermum centipeda is an epiphytic or lithophytic species in the genus Thrixspermum (family Orchidaceae), described by Loureiro in 1790. It is distributed from Assam and the Eastern Himalayas to southern China, Indochina, the Philippines, and Malesia.

Botanical characteristics:

  • Flowers: Approximately 2.5 cm. White or creamy yellow, becoming more yellow with age. They do not open widely. Subtle fragrance. Last for 2-3 days. They appear successively, several times a year, usually in spring, on pendulous inflorescences with persistent bracts arranged in two rows.
  • Habit: Small to medium-sized plant, with erect or pendulous stems that root along their length, and fleshy, elliptical leaves, unequally bilobed at the tip. Hot-to-cool growth.
  • Features: A vandaceous species with ephemeral flowering, typical of the genus. The inflorescence remains and produces flowers again. It is cultivated mounted or in an airy substrate.

Recommended substrate: Vandaceous Substrate
