Phalaenopsis Bronze Maiden (schilleriana × mannii 'Black')

Phalaenopsis Bronze Maiden 'Rio' is a particularly attractive primary hybrid, obtained by crossing Phalaenopsis schilleriana with the 'Black' form of the species Phalaenopsis mannii. It is especially appreciated for its decorative foliage and the unusual color of its flowers.

The plant inherits from Phal. schilleriana beautiful leaves with silver-metallic marbling (silver leaves), sometimes with purple reflections. The flowers have shades of metallic bronze, pink-copper, or bronze-gold, with darker accents, giving an exotic and elegant appearance. Many clones, including 'Rio', are fragrant (with sweet floral notes, sometimes compared to rose or honey) and can produce successive flowers on the same spike.
