Epidendrum orchids are hardy orchids that bloom even several times throughout the year. The plants adapt remarkably easily to any conditions. Epidendrum prefers higher temperatures but will tolerate temperatures down to 10 °C, making it the perfect choice for both beginners and experts.
Epidendrum Barkeria orchid - a successful primary hybrid, created by crossing the botanical species Barkeria spectabilis, from which it inherits the impressive pink flowers with successive blooming, and Epidendrum criniferum, which gives it the well-known vigor of the genus members, along with the flower shape typical of criniferum, adding extra variety and spectacle to the labellum and column lobes. In cultivation, it behaves similarly to the pollen parent species, Barkeria spectabilis, but with greater resistance.
It prefers moderate to high humidity, between 60 – 80%, accompanied by abundant ventilation. Watering is done weekly as a general rule, allowing the roots to dry, especially during the cold season.
The recommended temperature range is 15 – 22 °C.
Flowering occurs sporadically in any season but is favored in the cold season.
