Opuntia microdasys 'Inermis' , also known by the popular name "thornless rabbit ears" , is a fascinating and friendly variety of the species Opuntia microdasys . Unlike the classic form, which has yellow or white prickly glochids, the 'Inermis' variant is almost devoid of visible thorns, making it much safer for indoors or for spaces frequented by children and animals .

It has flat, fresh green, paddle-shaped stems covered with small, non-stinging white dots. In ideal light and heat conditions, it can produce yellow flowers, sometimes followed by small fruits.
