Full description and specifications

Mammillaria duwei is a species of cactus from the genus Mammillaria, originating from Mexico. This plant is relatively rare and appreciated in cactus collections due to its distinct appearance and compact size.

Mammillaria duwei grows in the form of a bush and has spherical or slightly elongated stems, which can reach up to 10 cm in height and approximately 5 cm in diameter. The surface of the stem is covered with thorns and areoles. The spines are usually white or yellowish, thin and fine, evenly distributed on the surface of the plant, giving it a fluffy appearance.

The flowers of Mammillaria duwei are white to pale pink in color, appearing in the crown of the stem. The flowering takes place in the spring-summer period and adds a nice contrast to the light green color of the stem.

Mammillaria duwei is relatively easy to care for, but it requires some specific conditions to thrive:

  • Light : This plant prefers strong and direct light, but it should be protected from the strong rays of the sun during the summer to avoid burns.
  • Watering : Like most cacti, Mammillaria duwei requires a moderate watering regime. The soil must be well drained and allowed to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering must be significantly reduced.
  • Temperature : It does well in temperatures that do not drop below 5 degrees Celsius. Avoid exposure to frost.
  • Soil : A well-draining cactus soil mix is ideal, including coarse sand or perlite to ensure adequate drainage.
