Mammillaria candida is a species of cactus native to the arid regions of Mexico. It is also known as the "Pincushion cactus" or "Snowball cactus" due to its unique appearance.
This cactus grows in globular or cylindrical shapes, with a diameter of up to 10 cm and a height of 20 cm. The plant can also produce offshoots, forming dense clusters of cacti.
The defining feature of this species is the covering of dense white spines, which give the plant a "snow-covered" look. The spines are soft and flexible, and their dense covering makes the plant appear white or silvery.
The flowers are small, pale pink or violet, with a lighter center, and appear at the top of the plant. Blooming occurs in spring.
Caring for Mammillaria candida requires strong but filtered light to prevent sunburn. It prefers well-drained soil and a moderate watering regime, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering is greatly reduced.
Height with pot included approx. 12 cm
