Full description and specifications
Macropodanthus cootesii - endemic botanical species from the Philippines.
The plant was named after the Australian orchid enthusiast Jim Cootes, who was the one who discovered it. Macropodanthus cootesii was only described in December 2010, by Dr. George Tiong, in the German journal Die Orchidee.
The growth style is specific to Vandaceae and somewhat close to Phalaenopsis - which suggests similar care conditions. The plant can be grown in sphagnum, bark, mixes or mounted.
The stems are long, pendulous, loaded with numerous flowers colored in shades of yellow-green, strongly scented (citrus aroma).
Flower size: approx. 3 cm
