Hoya vitellinoides × Hoya scortechinii 'Pink' (sp. UT 001)

Hoya vitellinoides x Hoya scortechinii 'Pink' is a horticultural hybrid. UT 001 in the title is the collection number of the parent sold as scortechinii 'Pink', not the identity of this plant. The foliage in this batch is elliptical, glossy, and green, sometimes with reddish spots; it does not have the silver splash of the UT-001 material. The flowers in the product photographs are globular, pale yellow, and glossy, with a pink corona. The fragrance is described as citrusy. The growth habit is vining, with more vigorous growth than H. vitellinoides.

Flowers and fragrance. The umbels in the product photographs are globular, with glossy, pale yellow to cream flowers and a pink corona. The form is close to that of H. vitellinoides, not the pink-golden umbels of the material sold as UT-001. The fragrance is noted as citrusy, reminiscent of lemon; its intensity is not guaranteed. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The cited parents are accepted species: Hoya vitellinoides Bakh.f. (Sumatra–Java) and Hoya scortechinii King & Gamble (Thailand to western Malaysia). 'Pink' and UT 001 refer to the parent’s label; they do not make this batch a UT-001 clone or identify it with the species from Way Kambas. Its commercial circulation as a garden hybrid from Thailand, around 2012–2013, indicates hybrid origin, not a native range.
