Hoya 'Mathilde' - developed specimens

Hoya carnosa 'Mathilde' is the compact horticultural hybrid resulting from the cross between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens. The lot includes established specimens with already formed and branched vines. The foliage is small, rounded, and firm, with subtle silver splashes. The growth habit is trailing or climbing, with slender vines. Under good growing conditions, umbels of small, white-pink, finely pubescent flowers with a sweet fragrance may appear. Its compact habit and simple care make it apartment-friendly.

Foliage and growth habit. The leaves are small, fleshy, nearly round, green, and densely arranged along slender vines. The silver splashes are part of the cultivar’s characteristics, not a separate Splash selection. Vine length varies from one specimen to another. Long vines may break or become damaged during transport.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped, finely pubescent, ranging from creamy white to pale pink, and grouped in umbels. The fragrance is sweet. Color, flower count, and fragrance intensity may vary. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The established horticultural name is Hoya carnosa 'Mathilde'. The commercial parentage is Hoya carnosa (mother) x Hoya serpens. The hybrid appeared in cultivation in 1994 at Emilio Begine, not as a spontaneous population. Both parent species are botanically accepted.
