Glandulicactus mathssonii, also known as Sclerocactus mathssonii, is a rare cactus native to northeastern Mexico. This plant is valued for its unique appearance and is popular among cactus collectors due to its decorative spines and impressive flowers.

Care:

  • Light: Glandulicactus mathssonii prefers direct sun or partial shade. The plant needs plenty of light to grow and bloom properly.
  • Soil: It requires well-drained soil, specific for cacti and fleshy plants, made up of sand, gravel, and a little compost.
  • Watering: Watering should be moderate, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. During winter, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot.
  • Temperature: The plant withstands high temperatures but does not tolerate frost, needing protection during winter.
  • Fertilizing: In the growing season (spring and summer), monthly fertilizing with a cactus fertilizer is recommended.
