Ficus pumila ‘Belle Sunny’ is a climbing or creeping plant, appreciated for its small, heart-shaped leaves with a delicate pattern of yellow-cream edges that beautifully contrast with the dark green center. It is a versatile plant, perfect for use in hanging pots, on support structures, or as ground cover in indoor spaces. Due to its fast growth and elegant appearance, it is an excellent choice to add a fresh and natural touch to any decor.

Care

Light

It prefers strong indirect light to maintain the vibrant colors of the leaves.

It can also tolerate medium light, but in low light the variegated colors may become less pronounced.

Avoid direct exposure to the sun, which can burn the delicate leaves.

Temperature

The ideal temperature is between 18-24°C.

Does not tolerate cold; avoid exposure to temperatures below 10°C.

Humidity

Thrives in conditions of moderate to high humidity.

In dry spaces, you can increase humidity by periodically misting the plant with water or using a humidifier.

Watering

Water the plant regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist but not soaked.

Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent water stagnation.

Soil

Prefers well-drained soil rich in organic matter. A mix for houseplants combined with perlite or sand is ideal.

Fertilization

Fertilize the plant every 2-4 weeks during the active growth period (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

During the dormant period (autumn and winter), reduce the frequency of fertilization.

Repotting

Repot the plant every 1-2 years or when the roots fill the pot.

Choose a new pot with good drainage and use fresh soil.

Pruning and maintenance

Prune the plant periodically to maintain its shape and stimulate branching.

Remove dry or yellowing leaves to maintain a tidy appearance.

Common problems

Dry or yellowing leaves: May indicate insufficient watering, low humidity, or cold drafts.

Discolored leaves: Can be caused by insufficient light.

Pests: It is vulnerable to aphids, mealybugs, or red spider mites. Check the plant periodically and treat with insecticide if necessary.
